Welcome to my blog!

Thank you for Being Here!

If you’re reading this then that means at least 1 other person is seeing my work!

Thank you for somehow finding me and for reading my very first blog post.

If you’ve not read any of the other content on my site then let me quickly introduce myself.

I’m Laura. I’m a 42 year old mother of 2 girls. I’ve been with my husband for 22 years and in that time we have built 2 reasonably successful businesses together. From the outside I may look like I have it all. The husband, the children, the house in the country and the successful businesses but like many women I’m someone who has spent years trying to hold everything together while quietly struggling behind the scenes.

Over the years I've faced challenges with PMDD, PND, alcohol addiction, a lack of self-worth and general poor mental health. I would say most of my issues have stemmed from the fact that I’m on a hormonal rollercoaster of emotion every month. For years I was made to feel that this meant I was broken. PMDD is finally being recognised as a real psychological condition although for the majority of my life I was made to feel like a drama queen and that ‘it was just pms’ like other women. The other women seemed to cope fine so why did I find it so difficult? I thought I was broken and just not capable of living like other women.

The good news is that I don’t think that anymore! And I hope to help other women who currently believe that they not good enough for whatever reason.

I'm not here because I've got everything figured out. I don’t! I’ve just been through quite a lot of shit over the last 31 years (since I got my first period) and as a result I’ve learned a lot about myself and about ways to cope when life is hard.

I have a lot happening in my life just now. My eldest daughter is moving away to study at University and I need to help support her mentally and financially. I’m moving abroad with my husband, my youngest daughter and our dogs. I’m trying to get my book published, which is something I know very little about. I’m supporting my husband to continue to grow our business and I’m in the process of starting a womans wellbeing charity. I’m doing all of this whilst dealing with my usual PMDD, possible adhd and now peri-menopause thrown into the mix.

But I’m sober, I’m seeing a psychologist for extra support and I’ve got a whole toolkit of techniques and coping strategies under my belt to use when I feel the wobble.

For the first time in a long time I feel excited! I’m excited to be creating this website all on my own using my own experiences and lessons to help other women.

This website is a place where I'll share my thoughts, experiences, lessons, struggles and successes. Some posts will be about PMDD. Some will be about motherhood including PND, personal growth, sobriety, spirituality or simply navigating life as a woman in today's world.

I hope to create a free community where women can share their own stories in a safe way.

My hope is that something you read here makes you feel seen, understood or inspired to make a change in your own life.

Thanks for reading and buckle up because your in for a wild ride! - Laura x
